This Continuous Arm Windsor chair is a variant of a traditional American style well suited to modern or cottage interiors and not commonly available in the UK. The arms and back hoop are made from a single piece of timber (Not laminated) bent to shape in three dimensions, producing an elegant, strong and comfortable chair. The oval seat is sculpted out of solid Oak and the back spindles closely follow the grain of the wood, to increase their strength and suppleness. These can be made with plain turnings. This example is made in natural Oak sealed and waxed. |
This example of a continuous arm is made of Ash with a natural oil and wax finish. |
This is one style of dining chair to complement the continuous arms. I don't have a name for it, but this one is made entirely of Oak and has a 16 inch wide seat. The style is derived from an illustration of an 18th century American chair |
