Sack Back Windsor Chairs
Sack Back Windsor chairs are a popular American style similar in concept to the English Double Bow, but these are equally at home in any type of interior. Sack Backs are inherently strong due to their design, and also lend themselves to special sizes and shapes. These can be made with plain turnings too.
Please note that I currently offer these chairs with Ash components, and with either an Ash or Elm seat.
American style sack back carver, this example is made of Ash with an antiqued ‘stain, shellac and wax’ finish.
American style sack back carver, this has one extra back stick, so is a bit wider than a standard chair. The oval seat is sculpted out of beautifully figured Oak and the back spindles closely follow the grain of the wood, to increase their strength and suppleness.
