Comb Back Windsor Chairs
The comb back Windsor chair is a refined and well-balanced design that has long been a staple of English country furniture. Its distinctive crest rail and elegant proportions give the chair a light and graceful appearance while maintaining the strength expected of a traditional Windsor chair.
For those who prefer a slightly simpler and more robust form, I also make lath back Windsor chairs, which use curved wooden laths rather than spindles to support the crest rail.
Each chair is handmade to order in my Somerset workshop using traditional Windsor chairmaking methods, with beech components and either an ash or elm seat, all made from locally sourced timber.
