Continuous Arm Windsor Chairs
Continuous arm Windsor chairs, these are variants of a traditional American styles and are well suited to modern or cottage interiors. The arms and back hoop are made from a single piece of timber (not laminated) bent to shape in three dimensions. This produces elegant, strong and comfortable chairs that are not commonly available in the UK.
Please note that I currently offer these chairs with Ash components, and with either an Ash or Elm seat.
American style continuous arm, this example is made of Ash with a natural oil and wax finish.
American style continuous arm, the oval seat is sculpted out of solid Oak and the back spindles closely follow the grain of the wood, to increase their strength and suppleness. These can be made with plain turnings.
American style back hoop diner, the design complements the continuous arms. This example is made entirely of Oak and has a 16 inch wide seat. The style is derived from an illustration of an 18th century American chair.
